Perkins Loans

The Perkins Loan Program was ended by US Department of Education on September 30, 2017.   No new or renewal loans were made for the 2018-19 award year and no new loans are expected to be made in any future years.   Perkins Loans were a need-based loans administered by Rensselaer in conjunction with US Department of Education.   They featured a fixed interest rate of 5% and ten year repayment period which began after a nine month grace period.   The loan was interest free during enrollment and students needed to be enrolled on at least a half time basis to qualify.

All Perkins Loans borrowed through Rensselaer are serviced by University Accounting Service (UAS).   Students may find additional program information including terms and benefits of the loan by visiting www.uaservice.com.  To Create an online account with UAS www.uasecho.com.

Rensselaer students who received Perkins Loans prior to the program end date may visit the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) student access site to view their full Federal student aid history including Perkins Loans received.   Students may access their NSLDS financial aid history online at https://nslds.ed.gov.
