To ensure the continued health and safety of our faculty, staff, and students, all visitors will be required to follow the COVID-19 Visit Policy found below and on the tour registration page.  Please register for your desired tour time in advance; due to the risks associated with COVID-19, we are not able to accommodate walk-ins.

Fall Open House (In-Person)

Saturday, October 23 or Saturday, November 13, at 10 a.m.

Join us for an in-person Open House on Saturday, October 23 or Saturday, November 13. The event will begin with an Academic Overview for your academic area of interest. Following the Academic Overview, choose from a variety of sessions hosted by current students, faculty, and staff on our broad range of academic and student life offerings. COVID health and safety protocols will be in place, and details may be found below, and on our registration page.

Rensselaer COVID-19 Event Information

  1. All guests (the prospective student and guests) must present proof of full vaccination at the time of registration by uploading your vaccination card. If you become fully vaccinated by the time of the event, you must bring the card to campus and show it during check-in.
  2. We are not permitting anyone under the age of 12 years old to join a campus event.
  3. Each prospective student is limited to a maximum of two guests.
  4. All visitors must wear a mask inside of campus buildings regardless of vaccination status (vaccinated visitors may remove their masks when outside).
  5. Advanced registration is required - due to the risks associated with COVID-19, we cannot accept any walk-ins.
  6. Please note: COVID-19 guidelines for on-campus events are different than for our campus tours because they include indoor seated sessions.
  7. On-campus events are subject to change in format and/or move to virtual based on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and New York State COVID guidelines. Any updates to this event will be communicated via email to the email address provided on the registration form.
Fall Open House (Virtual)

Sunday, November 14, 4 p.m. EST

Join us for a virtual Open House on Sunday, November 14 at 4 p.m. This virtual event will begin with an Academic Overview where you will hear from representatives across all five schools and learn how connections among these schools continually spur discovery. After the Academic Overview, choose from a variety of sessions including: Admissions and Financial Aid, Preparing for Medical School, a Student Life Panel, and much more! End your time by connecting with current students to learn about their experiences at Rensselaer.

COVID-19 Campus Tour Policy
  1. Tours will be comprised of no more than thirty people per group.
  2. Tours will be led by current students or admissions staff and last approximately an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and a half.
  3. Visiting students will be limited to one additional guest. Any additional family members beyond the student and one guest will be asked to remain in their vehicle for the entire campus visit.
  4. Visiting students and their guest will be required to fill out a COVID-19 Health Form prior to their arrival.
  5. Please arrive 10 – 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. If you arrive after your scheduled tour time, it is likely that you will not be able to tour campus.
  6. Parking is available behind the Heffner Alumni House (1301 Peoples Avenue). Additional parking can be found in the J-Lot next to the Heffner Alumni House.
  7. In accordance with campus policy, masks must be worn for unvaccinated visitors for the duration of the visit.
  8. Vaccinated visitors will still be required to wear a mask when inside campus buildings.
  9. Social distancing guidelines must be observed for all visitors.
  10. The tour will almost exclusively take place outdoors. Please dress appropriately as the weather conditions can change greatly from day-to-day. Access to classrooms, residence halls, dining halls, the Student Union, department and faculty offices and other indoor spaces will not be permitted. Individual meetings with Rensselaer community members, including faculty, staff and students will also not be permitted.
  11. Upon completion of your tour, we would ask that you return to your vehicle and depart campus to allow for the arrival of the next group of visitors.

In-person tours are currently being offered at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturdays. Visiting prospective students are limited to one additional guest.

Student Ambassador-Led Virtual Tours: Take a virtual campus tour with our student ambassadors! If you haven't already experienced our virtual tour (or even if you have), this is a great way to learn more about the campus from the comfort of your home. A student ambassador will guide you through campus and answer any questions that you have. This tour will highlight academic buildings, athletic facilities, residence life, and more

Admissions Student Ambassador Webinars: We are excited to bring you special opportunities to connect with our current students! Each webinar will feature four student ambassadors representing a variety of majors/minors, extracurricular activities, and co-op/internship/research experiences.

Transfer Student Webinars

There are currently no webinars scheduled. Sign up for a one-on-one meeting with a transfer counselor by emailing transfer@rpi.edu.

Group Visits

Unfortunately, at this time, we are not taking any group visit requests. Please check back for future availability.

If you are interested in bringing a group of 10 or more students to campus, please complete the Group Visit Request Form. We do our best to accommodate group visit requests; however we cannot guarantee staff and student availability.
