Rensselaer Admissions, in coordination with members of Rensselaer's Black and Latinx communities, invites academically talented under-represented seniors to apply to the STAR Program. The STAR Program allows high school seniors to experience life as a Rensselaer student. You will stay on campus, explore academics, tour campus, visit our laboratories, and connect with current Rensselaer students and faculty.
The STAR Program begins Friday, October 25, 2019 with a lunch reception, and concludes Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the close of the Fall Open House.
A COPY OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE YOUR STAR APPLICATION. Be sure to upload a copy with your application before the deadline date of September 20, 2019. Students accepted to the program will receive a confirmation email from Rensselaer.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at STAR@rpi.edu.
Rensselaer will provide bus transportation for students from the New York metro area. A Yankee Trails chartered bus will depart from the New York Public Library steps at the corner of 5th Avenue and 41st Street on Friday, October 25. The chartered bus will return to the same location on Saturday, October 26 following the Fall Open House. The bus will depart the Rensselaer campus promptly at 2:30 p.m.
If you are traveling to the Capital District and need transportation to the Rensselaer campus, we will be glad to pick you up at the train station, airport, or bus terminal.
Limited travel assistance is available for students for whom the trip to Rensselaer would present a financial hardship. Requests for assistance must be made in the STAR Program application. Students accepted to participate in the STAR Program will receive a confirmation email from Rensselaer. Please do not schedule transportation to campus until you receive a confirmation email message with instructions to confirm your participation.
