Required Forms
Applicants: Rensselaer requires both the FAFSA and CSS Profile. This provides us with a complete financial picture and enables us to offer you the maximum support. We recommend submitting these forms at the same time so that the data is consistent between them. If the data does not match between the FAFSA and CSS Profile, you could be audited.
Current students: If you receive need-based aid, you will need to submit the FAFSA every year. However, you do not need to re-submit the CSS Profile. Merit awards from Rensselaer are automatically renewed and do not require you to re-apply.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Required for any student seeking federal and/or Rensselaer need-based aid programs.
- Required each year for students currently attending Rensselaer who receive need-based aid.
College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile
- Required of undergraduate students seeking admission to Rensselaer, for determination of Rensselaer need-based aid programs and estimated federal aid eligibility.
- Not required for current students beyond their freshman year.
