Paige Townsend ’14

Design, Innovation and Society/Mechanical Engineering

Hometown: Windsor, VT

Internships/Co-ops: In the spring of 2012, I had the amazing opportunity to work at the Disneyland Resort as a Photopass photographer through the Disney College Program. This experience taught me communication and allowed me to capture magic. The program helped me meet Imagineers, whom I hope to be working side-by-side with in my future.

During the summers from 2008-2011 I interned with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratories in Hanover, NH. This was an amazing introduction to the world of programming and helped me get a feel for the world of engineering.

Activities outside of class: I am involved in Greek Life, Society of Women Engineers, Red & White, and Women's Mentoring Program.

Favorite class: My favorite class at Rensselaer has been Design, Culture, and Society, taught by Linnda Caporael. The class showed me how design has progressed throughout history. This class also gave me a frame to view where my designs could end up in the future.

Favorite thing to do in Troy: Manory's is definitely my favorite place to go in Troy! They have amazing breakfast and the company is always enjoyable.
