We believe that dining on campus plays an important role in fostering a sense of strong community.

	The Rathskeller offers hungry students, faculty, and staff a new variety of food items, increased areas for laptop use, and a colorful atmosphere conducive for working individually and in groups, or for relaxing and socializing with colleagues.

Our program offers all you care to eat dining, allowing participants to dine in any dining hall from the moment it opens to the moment it closes. Each dining hall offers a variety of food formats that can be enjoyed at the student’s convenience, and offers two or three entrees at each meal — as well as large deli and grill programs. All deli and grill selections are prepared “to order.”

Services, foods, and programs are developed by students for students using customer satisfaction surveys, comment cards, suggestions, and focus groups.

Value Added Flex Dollars

Flex Dollars are another feature adding flexibility to your dining options. Various dollar amounts of Flex Dollars are incorporated into dining plans — yours to spend like cash at Hospitality Service locations in the Rensselaer Union, retail cafés around campus, concessions, Commons and BARH Marketplace.

You can also use your Flex Dollars to treat your family and friends to a meal in a dining hall, or to enjoy some of our specials like the Student Catering program and cakes or gift sales. As an additional value, Flex Dollars are tax exempt on all food and drink related purchases. New York State tax laws prevail.

Health & Special Needs

Hospitality Services holds a strong commitment to nutrition awareness and education. All menu items are labeled with nutritional information and common food allergy ingredients.

The executive chef and Rensselaer’s health educator are available to meet with students who have food allergies or special dietary concerns.
