| Application Checklist: Transfer Students
If you have 12 or more transferable credits after completion of high school, you should apply as a transfer student. If you are seeking a second bachelor’s degree, please contact the admissions office before applying.
You must complete at least a pre-calculus level mathematics course before you enroll at Rensselaer. Although there are no specific course requirements beyond pre-calculus, you are strongly encouraged to pursue courses related to your intended area of study.
When applying as a transfer student, you must select a specific major on your application. While there is flexibility to change your major once you are here, your selection of a specific major at the time of application allows our staff to provide you with an accurate transfer credit evaluation and assign an appropriate advisor.
Due to the nature of the programs, transfer students are not eligible for the Physician-Scientist (Accelerated Medical) program or either of the Accelerated Law programs.

Rensselaer does not offer admissions interviews. However, if you’d like to make an appointment with a transfer counselor to have your questions answered, you may do so.
