Once the Admissions Committee begins reviewing applications for a particular semester, you’ll be notified of your decision within 3-4 weeks from the date of your completed application file.

A completed application file includes all required information, including official transcripts and letter of recommendation.

There are instances when the Admissions Committee will require additional information from you, which may delay the notification process.

Transfer Credits

Once accepted, you’ll receive an evaluation of your course work from the Rensselaer faculty.

Transfer students can expect to receive full credit for courses of comparable depth. Rensselaer will only transfer credit for courses in which you received a grade of C or better.

To ensure the most complete evaluation, please have official transcripts sent from all previously attended colleges, and send us course descriptions from all your courses.

Course descriptions can be found in your current college’s course catalog and may be copied and pasted into a Word document. Please email all course descriptions to our office at admissions@rpi.edu

School of Architecture: The following courses that have previously been accepted for transfer credits based on student performance in the course however, the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB) requires that all transfer credits associated with required courses that makeup a NAAB accredited degree program be reviewed on a case by case basis. Please submit original transcript, course/catalog descriptions including credit hours, contact hours per week. New Transfer students must submit all materials to admissions. Continuing students need to discuss with your academic adviser and have all the paperwork required and you will be advised how to proceed.

Transfer Student Course Guide

After acceptance, your course descriptions and syllabi will be forwarded to our faculty for their review. Once completed, your credit evaluation will be mailed to you. We’ll make every effort to ensure this process proceeds as quickly as possible. You’ll have access to your credit evaluation before an enrollment deposit is required.

In order to earn a Rensselaer undergraduate degree, a student must be registered full-time for a minimum of four semesters and must complete at least 64 credits at Rensselaer, all of which will be applied to the baccalaureate degree.

If you’d like to transfer AP, IB, or A level credit from your high school, make sure your official test results are sent directly to:
