Congratulations on your acceptance!

There are just a few more things left to do. Please review the enrollment information below in order to make your transition to Rensselaer a smooth one.

  1. Confirm Your Enrollment
Please send in the Transfer Enrollment Deposit form along with your $300 enrollment deposit to hold your place at Rensselaer. This nonrefundable deposit can be made by check, money order or credit card. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

  2. Financial Aid
Please be sure to complete the Rensselaer Transfer Financial Aid Application/Verification Worksheet and return it to the Office of Financial Aid. Transfer Architecture students beginning in the summer should also complete the Application for Financial Aid for Summer. If you wish to be considered for need-based financial aid, you should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Rensselaer’s FAFSA code is 002803. Financial aid awards are mailed out on a rolling basis. Information on cost of attendance is available by visiting http://admissions.rpi.edu/aid/costs.html.

  3. Credit Evaluation
If you have not done so already, please send us course descriptions and/or syllabi for all courses. Our faculty will use this information to determine the appropriate transfer credit you will receive. If you would like to transfer Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit from your high school, make sure your official test results are sent to the Rensselaer Admissions Office. Once complete, a transfer credit evaluation worksheet and curriculum and program planning (CAPP) report will be mailed to you.

  4. Transfer Student Orientation
Rensselaer’s Transfer Student Orientation is designed to help you make a smooth transition to your life as a student at Rensselaer. All incoming transfer students are required to attend one of the Transfer Student Orientation sessions. In addition to meeting your fellow classmates and being introduced to important offices and members of the Rensselaer community, students will also meet with an academic adviser and register for classes. Please complete and return the Transfer Student Orientation Reservation form and send it directly to the Office of the First-Year Experience. Student Orientation dates are noted on the form. Please visit the Office of the First-Year Experience Web site for further information.

  5. Report of Medical History
You must complete and return the Report of Medical History (PDF) before the start of your first semester. New York State law requires all students to provide the Student Health Center with physician-certified evidence of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella. All vaccinations must have been given after one year of age and after January 1, 1968. For more information about the Student Health Center and health insurance, go to http://studenthealth.rpi.edu/.

  6. On-Campus Housing
If you are interested in on-campus housing, please return the Transfer Student On-Campus Housing Request form to receive information and an application. Further information about on-campus housing and contact information for the Office of Residence Life is available at http://reslife.rpi.edu/.

  7. Tuition Monthly Plan
Please refer to the Tuition Pay Monthly Plan Enrollment Form (PDF) if you wish to take advantage of this monthly payment plan option.

  8. Mobile Computing Program
Computing at Rensselaer is an integral part of all courses of study, and all undergraduates are required to have a laptop computer. Through the Rensselaer Mobile Computing Program, the university offers a complete package to support this requirement, including on-campus technical assistance and all software. Full details on requirements and specifications are available at http://www.rpi.edu/laptops/. At the end of June, we will announce the laptop selected for the upcoming academic year. Since technology continues to change at such a rapid pace, we wait until the last moment in order to select the most up-to-date system. We will send you the details about our very competitive purchase/lease options and order forms in late June. Laptops will be distributed on campus just before classes begin in August.

  9. On-Campus Services and Support
  • Meal Plans and Campus Dining
At Rensselaer, we believe that dining on campus plays an important role in fostering a sense of community. Rensselaer Hospitality Services, managed by Sodexho USA, has developed a dining program that reflects the diversity and spirit of Rensselaer. Learn more about your options at http://rpihospitalityservices.com/.

  • Advising and Learning Assistance Center
The Advising and Learning Assistance Center is a place where students can get “one-stop” academic support in the form of services and programs designed to help them achieve their goals by becoming more effective and efficient learners. The center coordinates advising, counsels individual students, offers free tutoring and workshops, and provides help to students for whom English is their second language.

  • Career Development Center and Alumni Relations
Rensselaer student support extends all the way to graduation, with our Career Development Center and Alumni Relations Office standing by to offer opportunities to connect, and training programs on everything from résumé writing to networking with our more than 90,000 Rensselaer alumni.

  • Disability Student Services
If you have a learning disability (dyslexia, ADD, etc.), physical disability (hearing, vision, mobility, etc.), or emotional/psychological disability, we encourage you to contact Disability Services for Students to learn about available assistance. Please call (518) 276-2746 or e-mail dss@rpi.edu for information.

If you have any questions, please contact Nick Rosato, Director of Transfer Admissions, at rosatn@rpi.edu or (518) 276-6216.
