Fees & Payments

After you have been accepted for study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and you have submitted the appropriate paperwork to be issued a valid 1-20 A-B, I-20 M-N, or DS-2019, you are ready to apply for a visa.

F-1 Student Status

F-1 student status allows you to remain in the U.S. as long as you maintain lawful full-time student status. However, the immigration services requires that you finish your program of study by the expected completion date noted in section 5 of your I-20.

After you have been accepted for study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and you have completed a valid I-20 A-B, I-20 M-N, or DS-2019, you are ready to apply for a visa.

J-1 Exchange Visitor Status

This visa is for people who will be participating in an exchange visitor program in the U.S. The "J" visa is for educational and cultural exchange programs.
